Executive Director
American Craft Council
The American Craft Council is currently conducting a search for its next Executive Director. The Council is the single, national, nonprofit, educational and marketing organization responding to the trends and needs of the American craft field and encompassing a community of more than 28,000 members. Founded in 1943 by philanthropist and visionary Aileen Osborn Webb, the Council celebrates the remarkable achievements of the many gifted artists working by hand in the media of clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, and other materials.
As the lead for this nonprofit, membership-centric organization, the Executive Director is accountable to the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for the execution of the strategic plan and development and implementation of the programs, policies, and practices of the Council. Within that framework, s/he is responsible for the management and development of approximately 15 employees and a budget of $6 million. This individual will also manage the organization’s relocation from New York, NY to Minneapolis, MN slated to take place in July 2010.
The successful candidate will have solid management experience with a demonstrated passion for excellence. S/he will possess the talent and professional credibility to build and maintain a team capable of achieving the Council’s short and long range goals. Additionally, S/he will be a proven fundraiser with excellent communication skills.

Western Michigan University
Director – Frostic School of Art
The Director of the Frostic School of Art is an annual administrative appointment with faculty tenure, the appointment beginning July 1, 2010. The salary and faculty rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The Frostic School of Art seeks a dynamic, creative, and visionary advocate responsible for the promotion of the school locally, nationally, and internationally. The position requires a terminal degree or academic equivalency, and an established record of academic accomplishment in a chosen field sufficient to warrant a tenured faculty appointment in the Frostic School of Art. Candidates will have the ability to evaluate tenure and promotion dossiers, and have demonstrated success in arts administration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with budget management
• Experience with community relations and fund raising
• History of building supportive relationships among colleagues
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director will represent the Frostic School of Art and oversee its strategic advancement. Responsibilities include curricular, personnel, financial, community, and operational activities such as student/faculty/staff recruitment and retention, endowment management, alumni/donor relations, and fund raising.
