Tour of SCAD Furniture, Jewelry and Fiber departments
Pre-Conference Tour (No additional fee, but a limited number of seats are available on the bus)
Grab your seat immediately for the pre-conference tour of three of Savannah College of Art & Design’s departments!  SCAD – The University for Creative Careers offers more degree programs and specializations than any other art and design university in the United States, including a choice of 45 majors and more than 50 minors.

Our pre-conference tour picks up at 12:45pm. The first stop is the Gulfstream Center for Industrial and Furniture Design, a 44,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility with studios, labs & workshops, high-end computer labs and the latest industry software.

From the Gulfstream Center, we move to Pepe Hall, the new home of the Fibers Department. 149 undergraduate and 17 graduate students have chosen whether to concentrate on designing for industry (surface design or woven design), studio production, or fine art (2-D or 3-D approaches to fibers or a combination of these disciplines).

Our last stop is Fahm Hall, Metals and Jewelry Department. The facility provides classrooms, professionally equipped production facilities, and a showcase for student work.

The tour concludes at approximately 3pm with drop off at our host hotel, the Inn at Ellis Square.

Post-Conference Tour of Georgia’s Coast and experiences with the Geechee descendents of the slaves who were brought over from Africa 200 years ago to work the Coast’s indigo, rice and cotton plantations. Current Geechee now strive to save traditions of their culture that have all but disappeared. They are known for preserving more of their African linguistic and cultural heritage than any other African American community in the United States. We’ll tour historic African-American churches and sites in Savannah – including the Beach Institute and the Ulysses Grant collection as well as visit the Kunda Geechee Cultural Center in RIceboro GA to enjoy a performance, and see Saltwater Geechee Enterprise crafts made on Sapelo Island.
